The Canton Athletic Booster Club supports middle and high school athletes throughout the school year, in three seasons of sports, for girls and boys. Not only does the Booster Club work diligently to help both athletes and coaches with equipment, gear and more, but the Booster Club is on the field and in the gym for every game and match Canton competes in. After all, the Booster Club is comprised of parents, grandparents, and friends of Canton's student atheletes. We invite you to join us on the field and in the gym to help support all of our teams as they strive for victory! Below is a list of sports currently offered at the middle and high school level.
High School Schedules: Can be found by clicking on your sport's team page on the right.
Girls Soccer
Competing in the North Central CT Conference (NCCC), we have a 17 game schedule that "kicks off" on Tuesday, September 13th (at 3:45pm) at Ellington. The highlight of our regular season schedule, as always, is our ANNUAL NIGHT GAME, which takes place this year on Saturday, October 1st @
5pm (with a Varsity game against Granby).
Boys Soccer
Annually a program that competes for conference titles and continues on into the post season. Being fed through the town youth and middle school program keeps consistency and high levels of competitiveness. Has produced several players that have gone on to play in successful Division I, II, and III programs.
Field Hockey
One of the State's most recognized successful high school programs after having won several state championships and Conference titles. Many field hockey players have taken their play to the college ranks. A well respected program in the NCCC.
Cross Country (Boys/Girls)
Starting in the middle school level, the enthusiasm and commitment have provided the schools with a program that regularly produces quality students and athletes. Several well respected college cross country programs have been the recipients of our athletes. Can be seen training throughout town in the fall.
Football
Brought back to CHS after many years, the relatively young program is gaining momentum and was key in initiating a new youth program in town. Already has placed a graduate at a Division I football program.
Girls Basketball
A program that has gained momentum in recent years and made several post season appearances. Coaches and players are always willing to give back and help grow the youth programs in town. Numerous former players have moved on to the college ranks at all levels and recently named one as an All American.
Boys Basketball
One of the stronger teams in the NCCC annually, they usually compete well into the post season, having made several quarter and semi-final rounds. You can find several players over the years playing at schools such as Trinity and ECSU.
Indoor Track (Boys/Girls)
As long as there are empty hallways, the program will continue to grow in numbers. The team has been very competitive and gets the athletes ready for the spring outdoor season.
Wrestling
Growing rapidly with the formation of local youth programs, the wrestling
program continues to be one of the best in the conference. Having several
individual state champions over the years in every weight class, the
athletes have gone on to the college ranks.
Baseball
Very competitive program both in the conference and state level, annually competes in the post season. Fundamentally sound players move on to post high school competition and several have returned to the program to work with the team.
Softball
Having recently won another State Championship in 2009, this program is very talented and very competitive amongst it's athletes. Several players are annually recruited for college level play.
Girls Golf
Very young program that has won last three conference titles and placed in top 5 twice, during Statewide competition. Placed five players on All Conference teams in 2009.
Boys Golf
Competition amongst it's players is high as there is a limited amount of match time slots. A very strong program. Always competitive during the season leads to great post season results.
Track (Boys/Girls)
Not having an outdoor facility has never dampened the spirit and enthusiasm of the combined program. Having to travel to a neighboring town and share facilities for training purposes has produced very competitive students that compete amongst the state's best programs.
Tennis (Boys / Girls)
Conference competitor annually. Great enthusiasm from student athletes that learn competition from both the single to the team concept.
Girls Lacrosse
As of last season our program turned Varsity. We
anticipate growth as we move forward and enthusiasm grows for the sport.
Boys Lacrosse
Newly established Boy's Lacrosse program this season. Looking forward to developing our skills as we grow.
